There are times when I find the multiple-copy aspect of printmaking quite tedious and so more recently have started once again to attend life drawing sessions. I find the process almost cathartic when carried out at a certain pace with quick poses and maybe a moving model. It is the nearest compensation I can find for not being able to either play a musical instrument or dance with ease. For me the resulting drawings are reminders of the occasion and hold something of the intensity of the moment and the character of place and person. I can only hope that to the casual observer they have some lifelike qualities and as such they may endure for a little longer.
